As the world shifts towards electric vehicles, luxury automakers like Mercedes-Benz are stepping up their game. The Mercedes-Benz EQS is a luxury electric sedan that has garnered significant attention for its impressive features and performance. But is it worth the hype? Let’s dive into the details of this groundbreaking vehicle.

Performance and Range

The EQS boasts a power output of 536 hp and a range of up to 318 miles, depending on the model and driving conditions. It is available in both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations. With a mileage of 89 MPGe, the EQS is considered the best luxury electric car for safety. The battery warranty covers 8 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first.

Customization and Subscription Upgrades

Mercedes-Benz offers a range of subscription upgrades for their electric vehicle owners in North America, including the option to buy 60 or 80 additional horsepower for a monthly fee. These upgrades are available through an over-the-air software patch, without the need to visit a dealer. Buyers can choose between an annual subscription payment or a one-time flat fee. This allows Mercedes customers to continuously customize their vehicles to fit their changing needs and preferences.

Luxury Features and Design

The EQS offers a luxurious driving experience, with seats that may cool and massage you, premium perforated leather upholstery, and a dashboard touch screen that spans several feet. Inlays may be actual wood, adding to the high-end feel of the vehicle. The exterior design features a “one-bow” curve and a roofline tapering into a high-mounted spoiler and steeply raked tailgate. The traditional grille has been replaced by a solid fascia, with small air intakes below the bumper for cooling the electric drive system.

EQS SUV and Maybach Version

Mercedes-Benz is expanding its EQ-badged offerings with the 2023 EQS SUV, which shares many features with its sedan sibling. The SUV offers a choice of electrified powertrains and a higher roofline for improved headroom. A new Maybach version of the EQS SUV has also been revealed, designed for maximum comfort with diamond-stitched Nappa leather, electric recliner seats, and a bottle chiller. The Maybach version has dual motors with a total output of 484 kW and supports 200kW DC-fast charging, offering “up to 600”
kilometers of range on one charge.
